Remembrance Service 2018
Louie: You may have worked out that our mystery Edwardian playwright and novelist is J.M Barrie; the creator of Peter Pan. Most of us will have seen Walt Disney’s film of Peter Pan. We wanted to share the character of Peter Pan as he, like millions who gave their lives, never grew up.
Tom: Today, we collectively unite and acknowledge our fallen service personnel both from Merton Court and all around their world and as we wear our poppies, we remember the guns of the great war that fell silent 100 years ago. We will ensure their memory never fades.
Peter Pan quotes for remembrance service
“Never say goodbye because goodbye means going away and going away means forgetting.”
“Never, is an awfully long time.”
“Stars are beautiful, but they may not take part in anything, they must just look on forever.”
“I’m not young enough to know everything.”
“So, come with me, where dreams are born, and time is never planned.”
“All of this has happened before, and it will all happen again.”
“Absence makes the heart grow fonder… or forgetful.”
“I suppose it’s like the ticking crocodile, isn’t it? Time is chasing after all of us.”
“You know that place between sleep and awake, and that place where you still remember dreaming? That’s where I’ll always love you. That’s where I’ll be waiting.”
“Little (children) should never go to bed, they always wake up a day older.”
‘Lost Boy’ lyrics by Ruth Berhe
There was a time when I was alone
Nowhere to go and no place to call home
My only friend was the man in the moon
And even sometimes he would go away, tooThen one night, as I closed my eyes
I saw a shadow flying high
He came to me with the sweetest smile
Told me he wanted to talk for a while
He said, "Peter Pan, that's what they call me
I promise that you'll never be lonely, " and ever since that dayI am a lost boy from Neverland
Usually hanging out with Peter Pan
And when we're bored we play in the woods
Always on the run from Captain Hook
"Run, run, lost boy, " they say to me
Away from all of realityNeverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are freeHe sprinkled…
He sprinkled me in pixie dust and told me to believe
Believe in him and believe in me
Together we will fly away in a cloud of green
To your beautiful destiny
As we soared above the town that never loved me
I realized I finally had a family
Soon enough we reached Neverland
Peacefully my feet hit the sand
And ever since that dayI am a lost boy from Neverland
Usually hanging out with Peter Pan
And when we're bored we play in the woods
Always on the run from Captain Hook
"Run, run, lost boy, " they say to me
Away from all of realityNeverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are freePeter Pan, Tinkerbell, Wendy Darling
Even Captain Hook, you are my perfect story book
Neverland, I love you so
You are now my home sweet home
Forever a lost boy at lastPeter Pan, Tinkerbell, Wendy Darling
Even Captain Hook, you are my perfect story book
Neverland, I love you so
You are now my home sweet home
Forever a lost boy at lastAnd for always I will say
I am a lost boy from Neverland
Usually hanging out with Peter Pan
And when we're bored we play in the woods
Always on the run from Captain Hook
"Run, run, lost boy, " they say to me
Away from all of realityNeverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free
Neverland is home to lost boys like me
And lost boys like me are free
