It has been a real pleasure to watch the children engage with the lost boys project, in the process forging a link with the past more than 100 years ago. Finally we open this research performed up, and want to thank the number of historians who have been in contact with us and contributed to this amazing project.
We would like to sincerely thank the families of the lost boys and our oldest Mertonians for their contact with school, we always welcome back any previous student and their families, and strongly encourage the families of those listed here to come and engage with the project and students. To expand and never forget the brave young Mertonians for their service.
We hope to continue this project for the Second World War and continue to archive history, as it evolves, in reference to our community of school children, the Mertonians.
The Price Family
We would like to thank our archivist Ellie Grigsby, for her hard work and research, in bringing this project to life for the 100 year anniversary of the First World War. We also would like to thank the other historians involved, with special thanks to Yvonne Auld and Dan Hill.
Above all this is testimony to Dominic Price’s fascination to preserve the history of the First Word War and Merton Court’s fallen, driven by the stories of his great uncle Lenny (KRRC) killed as a boy soldier at Aubers Ridge in 1915 and reawakened by the reinterment of Marcel Simon in 2000.
We dedicate this site to our Uncle and Brother, ‘Mr Chris’, who also carried out considerable work and always provided his enthusiastic support.
